Safety Guarantee, Material tough enough to withstand any punishment

An exceptional lifespan

Made from a coated fibreglass yarns base (Sunscreen®) or prepared after weaving (Blockout), Mermet® fabrics offer the best characteristics for withstanding any punishment :

Sunscreen® fabrics

When they are used as large outdoor blinds, Sunscreen® Satiné 5500 or Natté 4503 fabrics offer various advantages :

  • Great wind resistance thanks to their glass fibres, which are protected by their coating
  • No water pooling due to aeration of the fabric, which enables natural run-off

Coated fibreglass, which is a high-performance material, offers numerous advantages :

  • It withstands chemicals and temperature variations
  • It does not rot, deteriorate, or accumulate mould, even in humid locations, due to its composition which, combined with aeration, provides natural ventilation.

Blockout fabrics

Thanks to their anti-bacterial treatment, Blockout fabrics (Paradis 11600) are protected from any deterioration and offer greater durability.

Year after year, the printed fabrics in the Mermet® collection lose none of their characteristics when they are exposed to UV rays.
Their performance characteristics are measured using a colourfastness test in relation to light.

In terms of solar protection, Mermet® fabrics comply with the requirements of the new products standards for "Blinds Performance Requirements": external blinds NF EN 13561 and internal blinds NF EN 13120.

Quality control: the fabrics in the Mermet® collection are checked in accordance with ISO 9001 quality management requirements.

Fire - Smoke classification

The fabrics in the Mermet® collection are non-flammable and fully comply with the most demanding fire safety standards in the world:

French classification M1

German classification B1

British classification BS

Chinese classification B1

American classification FR

Australian classification AS

After having been printed on (digital printing, screen printing) the fabrics in the Mermet® collection retain all their fire-retardant properties (M1, FR, etc.). Likewise, the solvents used during printing evaporate, leaving only the pigments required on the fabric.

IMO

Used as a ship's fitting, certified fabrics from the Mermet® collection comply with the requirements of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and benefits from the CE 0062 mark (Bureau Veritas).

Smoke

Mermet® fabrics which have been tested are in accordance with NF F 16-101 standard.

EUROCLASS

Mermet® fabrics which have been tested meet the requirements of EN 13501-1 standard mounted according to EN 13823 and EN 14716.

Sprinkler fire safety

Airscreen® 2750 fabric from the Mermet® collection complies with tests involving ceiling textiles spread beneath sprinklers in accordance with DDSC directives (configuration of exhibition halls) and the APSAD – CNPP specification (configuration of sales areas).

Healt, Hygiene and the Environment

The compounds used when they are treated do not emit any hazardous substance exceeding the maximum levels specified in the European standards and other health and safety regulations.
They are guaranteed lead-free, with these properties being certified by the Oekotex standard 100 quality label.

Certified Mermet® fabrics guarantee the indoor air quality (limitation of Volatile Organic Compound - VOC).

Mermet's coated glass core yarn fabrics benefit from the new EndurisTM Glass Core quality label. This label is a mark of reliability with accreditations from independent testing laboratories and guarantees the technical characteristics of Sunscreen® fabrics: mechanical resistance, dimensional stability, high-level durability and their impact on environment.

Advice and care instructions

Storage conditions

The rolls of fabric should be stored horizontally, but not piled up, in a place where the temperature and level of humidity is as constant as possible. The fabric should never be folded. For long-term storage, it is not advisable to leave rolled or folded panels on top of each other.

Recommendations for handling, making-up and implementation/adaptation

For an easier handling of wide width fabric and to avoid having marks on it, Mermet recommends to roll the panel(s) onto a cardboard tube at each stage of the making-up.

For fabrics with a white acrylic coating on one side (Kibo 8500, Flocké 11201 and Obion 11203), it is recommended to handle it on a clean dust-free surface.

Viso Met: As for all metallised fabrics, cotton gloves should be worn during the making-up process; it is advised not to use this fabric in a humid environment.

The panels of fabric are cut by blade or ultrasonically. Seams and pockets are done by welding (thermal, high frequency or ultrasonic, with an adhesive support if need be) or sewn together. The fabric must be properly squared before it is made up, especially for large blinds or structures.

Mermet recommends adding a strengthening strip made of translucent coated fibreglass to weld seams and pockets and welding sides for external blinds.

Horizontal seams give the best result.

For tensile structures, it is better to strengthen the panel's angles and make a pocket to fit all the way round the panel, notably to support eyelets.

Very long blinds may need the addition of stiffeners to ensure they will still hang properly after time.

For installing shaped panels or with suspended volumes, various systems may be envisaged: with elastic or cord, braid, hanging, on frame.

Tensile panel: fixed by eyelets (tensioning by springs or braid) on frames and profiles (by inserting a rod) and thanks to their high mechanical resistance, Mermet® fabrics suit in particular wall or ceiling applications. The panels can be cut to position air vent and lighting devices.

Marking

Mermet® fabrics are suitable supports for digital printing, screen-printing, paint and adhesive.

Thanks to their textile appearance, the legibility is perfect, with no shininess, and the colours are sublimated.

Care instructions

It is easy to clean the Sunscreen® fabrics in the Mermet® collection:

Dust can be removed using a vacuum cleaner or blower, without rubbing.

Clean them using a sponge or a soft brush dipped in soapy water.

Outdoors, you can use a pressurised water device, provided you maintain a reasonable distance.

Do not use solvents or abrasive substances likely to cause damage to the fabric's coating.

Rinse using clean water and then dry the panel fully deployed.

For Greenscreen® fabrics:

Dust can be removed using a feather duster, a vacuum cleaner or blower. Great care has to be taken to avoid creases in the fabric or to pull the fabric out of shape. Do not scrub.

Do not use solvents or abrasive substances likely to cause damage to the fabric's coating.

Use a plant-based eraser to remove superficial stains.

Ultrasonic cleaning is suitable for this fabric.

For Blockout fabrics:

Remove dust with vacuum cleaner or compressed air, do not scrub.

Do not use solvents or any abrasive substance that might damage the coating of fabric.

Use a plant-based eraser to remove superficial stains.
