Screen printing, letter painting, use of adhesives, etc. - the marking processes are numerous and varied. Of them, digital printing continues to be the most commonly used process.
What is digital printing?
A marking technique for small and medium-sized print runs of supports enabling banners to be made for museums/shows, covering façades, events-related fabrics, etc. for any cultural or sporting event or sales campaign.
Ink jet printing : A process using solvent-based inks which entails depositing each colour directly onto the textiles using a mobile injector, which operates in accordance with the motif stored in the memory.
What types of inks are on the market?
- Water-based inks: water-soluble
- Solvent-based inks: Manufactured based on organic solvents
- Environmentally-friendly solvent-based inks: These have an improved chemical formula compared to solvent-based inks in order to comply with environmental standards
- UV inks consisting entirely of dry materials: These offer numerous advantages compared to conventional inks. The motifs are printed on textiles and are dried completely using powerful UV lamps. These multi-purpose inks are applied to various supports, are heat-resistant, can withstand physical or chemical abrasions, and are very shiny, as well as providing a high colour density.
What is screen printing?
A printing technique using a silk screen that allows the ink to pass through certain parts of its pattern. This enables numerous materials (including PVC) to be printed in large print runs, and guarantees intense, durable colours.
Painting: Stencil printing
A process which consists of depositing colours through stencilled motifs in a plate. It preceded flat bed printing.
Adhesives
This involves sticking adhesives onto textiles.
More often than not, the fabrics in the Mermet® collection are printed using the digital technique : ink jet printing. Other processes used are screen printing, painting, or adhesives.
Due to their textured appearance, the legibility is perfect, without any shininess, and the colours are sublimated.
Due to their various patterns, Mermet® fabrics allow you to play on contrasts or colour saturation and allow the detail of the images to be reconstituted by using ultra-fine printing, and even guarantee the legibility of small and large texts!
