This year, the European Solar Shading Organisation (ES-SO) is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new website - www.globalshadingday.com - a comprehensive hub dedicated to raising global awareness about the critical role of solar shading in sustainable living. The new website is a one-stop resource that offers insights into the Global Shading Day initiative, introduces participating countries, highlights local events, and invites businesses, policymakers, and individuals to join forces in advocating for smarter cooling solutions.
Since its inception, Global Shading Day has rapidly expanded, attracting participants from across Europe and beyond. With new countries joining the initiative each year, the movement emphasizes the growing importance of passive cooling strategies in combating rising temperatures and reducing energy consumption.
“In 2025, we aim to take Global Shading Day to new heights by involving even more stakeholders and amplifying our message through digital platforms,” said Ann Van Eycken, Secretary General of ES-SO. “The launch of globalshadingday.com marks a significant step forward in our mission to create climate-resilient buildings worldwide.”
Joint the movement and be part of the change
Global Shading Day 2025 is more than just an event; it’s a call to action for governments, architects, engineers, and individuals to integrate solar shading into their daily lives and long-term planning. The new website provides a platform to explore local initiatives, find expert advice, and learn how to support the cause. Stakeholders are encouraged to participate by organizing events, sharing knowledge, and promoting the benefits of solar shading through social media and local media channels.
Visit www.globalshadingday.com to learn more about the initiative, explore country-specific activities, and discover how you can contribute to creating a more sustainable future.
As the world grapples with extreme weather and rising energy demands, efficient solar shading offers a simple yet powerful solution:
*The Guidehouse study 5th November 2021 results confirm that smart solar shading could reduce the energy consumption for space cooling in European buildings by up to 60% by 2050.
In response to these priorities, Mermet offers a range of solar protection fabrics recognised for their thermal and optical performance in both indoor and outdoor applications.
